It depends on the vehicle’s capacity. According to regional legislation in Madeira, vehicles with up to 22 seats may be driven by a tourism driver who is also authorised to provide tourist information.

However, for vehicles with 23 seats or more, the law requires a separate driver and guide.

Please note that, even in smaller vehicles, the tourism driver cannot leave the vehicle unattended, especially in areas with limited parking. Therefore, the driver will not accompany the group inside gardens, museums, or monuments. If such assistance is required, a guide must be hired.
